The development of Slide Fit® began a simple question:
“The need is clear - but can we create a hands-free shoe that is as stylish as it is convenient?"

Daimatu began conceptual planning in 2020 and launched full-scale development in 2022.
Starting from handmade prototypes and later incorporating 3D printing and hot-melt techniques, the team refined the mechanism step by step—overcoming manufacturing skepticism to achieve the ideal form.

As a result, in June 2023, Daimatu obtained Japan’s first patent for hands-free shoe functionality (Japan Patent No. 7289471).
Immediately following its debut at industry exhibitions, the technology attracted significant interest from buyers and has since been adopted by multiple brands.

“In Japan, people frequently take their shoes on and off, so we knew demand for hands-free footwear was high. Our goal was to deliver that functionality in a shoe that still looks completely natural.”
